Ole Obermann has been hired by mobile short-form video app TikTok as its vice president and global head of music. The former Warner Music Group digital exec joined the company, owned by Chinese conglomerate Bytedance, in October after a surprise exit from the label. He is based in London and will lead corporate development efforts in music for both TikTok and Bytedance.
Recent rumors indicated that Bytedance may be planning to launch an on-demand streaming service. It could launch before the end of the year in select markets.
