Facebook has posted job openings centered on sound design, indicating that the social media company may have designs for more original music creation. The latest posting is for an in-house music composer, a role that requires at least 10 years of professional experience in the industry. The duties are to “compose innovative music in multiple styles” and “drive music-related projects from inception to completion with little oversight.”
It had previously been advertising a job as Global Head of Music Licensing. There have been some pushes from the major labels to reach an understanding of how to manage when licensed music is shared to the social network. Facebook’s recent sonic efforts also include yesterday’s announcement of Live Audio, an audio-only broadcasting option.
