DGital Media, which launched its nascent podcast network last week, has moved quickly to bolster its monetization capacity and executive leadership. WYD Media, an ad sales organization that specializes in spoken-word audio brands, will be folded into DGital, with founder Ron Hartenbaum becoming Managing Director of DGital Media. John Murphy, also in WYD Media, will assume the role of President.
WYD currently sells for Fox New Radio, Thom Hartmann, Michael Smerconish, and others.
According to Spencer Brown, the CEO of DGital Media, the acquisition represents a multi-dimensional expansion of capability: “This new acquisition expands DGital’s capabilities in the marketplace providing us with research, analytics accounting and of course a deeper sales force. We now have the ability to build creative audio content for client brands and personalities and monetize them on all three major audio platforms – broadcast, satellite and online.”
WYD Media operates three offices: New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit.
DGital Media launched with one content partner, technology website and conference company Re/code. In addition to co-developing Re/code-branded audio programs, DGital told RAIN News that it intends to broaden to other media partners.
