Deezer has expanded its deal with mobile carrier Orange, which will be the exclusive telecom partner for the streaming service through to summer 2018. This should be a positive financial move for Deezer; the Orange contract provided 24% of its revenue in the first half of 2015.
“We are delighted to extend this strategic agreement with Orange [which originated] in 2010,” said Alexis de Gemini, director general of Deezer France. “For two years, we [will] work hand in hand with Orange France teams to create a new distribution strategy for our premium offerings.”
The two companies have been collaborating since 2010, and Orange was most recently a participant in a $109 million fundraising round for Deezer at the start of this year. Access Industries led that round, and it is now the majority owner of Deezer.
