Triton Digital released a demonstration of its new Demo+ service, releasing a brief study of what podcasts are favored by female listeners (18+ in the U.S.).
The study is doubly interesting, not just for the results but also for the methodology. Demo+ is the brand name of a new consumer study method co-developed by Triton and Signal Hill Insights, the Toronto-based research company. Triton says Demo+ is “the first-ever integration of census and survey-based research methodologies.” This blends server measurement of Triton client podcasts with personal field research which is the specialty of Signal Hill. The result, according to Triton, is “provide[s] a consistent industry approach to demographic measurement.”
In this case, the result is that women love True Crime and News podcasts, if we judge by the top-5 results Triton released. Here they are:

- Morbid
- Dateline NBC
- Up First
- My Favorite Murder
Respondents were asked about their listening platforms; Apple and podcast websites were mentioned most often.
