From Boulder-based Clip Interactive, we received news that Radio One and its syndication company Reach Media are placing their mobile eggs in the Clip basket — which is to say, using Clip-built mobile apps and web players for all 53 Radio One stations and seven syndicated personalities. the agreement follows a seven-month test across Radio One’s five-station Washington, D.C. cluster.
Clip distinguishes its interactive mobile platform experience from what it terms “commoditized” competitors. Bill Freund, Clip’s EVP and Chief Revenue Officer, stated: “We’re very excited to be playing such a critical role in changing the digital landscape for the whole radio industry.”
Concering the Radio One agreement, Freund noted, “We’re very proud that a group with so much digital credibility chose our platform to pursue their digital vision.”
Mark Charnock, Chief Digital Officer of R1 Digital, a new digital network combining assets of Radio One and Reach Media, endorsed the now-expanded deal. “We strongly believe their interactive platform for broadcast, web and mobile listening will enhance our value to listeners and advertisers, leveraging the core strengths of our great stations and personalities. Clip’s unique technology solutions, supported by their dedicated team, represent a major digital advancement for radio operators, and we’re excited to continue to work with them.”
