Cary Sherman will step down from his role as CEO and chairman of the RIAA at the end of 2018. Sherman has been with the industry group for more than four decades, beginning as an outside counsel and then climbing the ladder to the top post.
When Sherman departs, Mitch Glazier will assume the CEO/chairman role. Glazier was a senior executive vice president for the RIAA and has now been promoted to president in advance of the new job he’ll hold starting January 2019. He has managed the group’s public policy and industry relations teams for the past 18 years.
The RIAA released its 2016 report on the U.S. music industry last week. The results showed streaming taking over as the top source of revenue last year.
