SOCAN, Canada’s music publisher and composer organization, announced that its CEO Eric Baptiste has resigned. Baptiste was nearing the end of his contract as chief executive for the society, and reached “a mutual decision” with the SOCAN board to close his term, effective immediately. SOCAN said the timing was not related to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
“We thank Eric Baptiste for his leadership over the past 10 years,” said Marc Ouellette, President & Chair of SOCAN’s Board of Directors. “During this time, SOCAN has seen growth and has maintained its presence as a leader in serving music creators and publishers in Canada and around the world.”
Senior Vice President Operation & Reproduction Rights Jennifer Brown will take over as interim CEO while SOCAN begins a formal search. Brown has been with the organization for more than two decades, including almost ten years on its executive team.
