BRS Media extends dot-FM registration with Asian registrar partnerships

dot fmBRS Media, the administrator of dot-FM domains (e.g. www.RadioStation.fm), announced new partnerships with three Asian domain registrars. The licensing of administration rights enables the partners to register new dot-FM domain ownerships, and extends the BRS Media footprint to regions where demand for the dot-FM handle is reportedly on the rise.

The licensing registrars are Chinese based Bizcn.com, Inc., Whois Networks Co., Ltd (doing business as: YesNIC) from Seoul, Korea and PakNIC (Private) Limited from Lahore Pakistan.

George T. Bundy, CEO of BRS Media, remarked, “Our research confirms the largest growth markets are in Asia, and we are excited to announce these partnerships in three thriving regions. Over the past 16 years, the .FM top-level domain has attracted worldwide acceptance. As consumer demands in Asia continue to outpace the world in Streaming, Music and Social Media, all of which are strong segments of the dotFM brand, the .FM TLD will continue to show substantial gains in China and the surrounding Asian Region.”

As a backdrop to the well-established dot-FM domain extender, ICANN (the governing body of Internet domain extensions and administrators) is in the process of authorizing a slew of new dot-WHATEVERS. One of them is dot-MUSIC (e.g. www.MusicService.music), and a controversy is brewing about which company or consortium will administer it. Big media companies including Amazon and Apple are in the running. See this protest article from The Trichordist.
