Billboard has named Spotify as its official streaming partner for 2016. With this new deal, Spotify will power playback on more than 75 charts from the music organization. It will also supply tunes for a New Music Fridays editorial and for three new Spotify-centric charts. The new lists are Viral 50, focused on social and sharing; Velocity Chart, which tracks tunes with fast growth; and Spotify Rewind, for a look back at the most popular songs modern listeners like from past decades.
“As the world’s largest streaming music service, it’s exciting to partner with a highly influential music brand like Billboard to help expand its chart offerings,” said Stefan Blom, Spotify’s chief strategy officer and chief content officer. “We’re pleased to offer passionate music fans the ability to listen to hundreds of artists on the Billboard charts alongside new content, powered exclusively by Spotify.”
