AT&T dropping Spotify bundle

Cell provider AT&T is dropping Spotify from its service bundles. The announcement, which we first found on Digital Music News, is also memorialized on an AT&T web page.

According to DMN, which first noticed the change when an AT&T customer posted about it, the decision affects Unlimited and MOre Premium plans.

Competing streamer Pandora also bundles into AT&T plans, and that deal appears to be remaining intact. On that point, DMN notes that Pandora is a subsidiary of SiriusXM, whose parent company, Liberty Media, owns 800,000 shares of AT&T.

No reason appears evident for the decision. Spotify’s next earnings call is scheduled for October 27.
