Apple has hired Zach Kahn to helm PR for its podcasting business. He will start the role in January and will report to Senior Director of Communications Tom Neumayr, who confirmed the hire to Variety but did not offer a comment on whether Apple would be producing original shows.
Kahn joins from Vox Media, where he most recently held the role of marketing lead for the publisher’s podcasts. He has also worked at Google, Nest, and Uber.
Apple has long been a critical player in podcasting. The company recently redesigned its software to have a standalone podcast app separate from iTunes and it changed its show categories earlier this year.
