Anchor adds new podcast analytics direct from Spotify streams

Anchor, the streamlined podcast creation platform owned by Spotify, announced an update to its analytics tools. The service is adding more metrics for podcasters powered by Spotify. The new charts on the Anchor dashboard are based on data coming from Spotify streams rather than from download counts or from RSS feeds.

One new metric is episode drop-off. This chart lets podcasters measure the completion rate of each episode and see when their audience stops listening. This can help show creators understand what content is resonating with their listeners and aid in organizing and monetizing their episodes.

Anchor also now has aggregated listener demographics. These include breakdowns by age and gender. Again, this information is helpful for understanding a show’s audience and in making pitches to advertisers.

The new Anchor charts are available from the dashboard on both the web and on mobile apps.
