Amazon Music announced a new hire, bringing on Adam Block as global head of music catalog. In this new position, Block will oversee the music service’s catalog music strategy, and build relationships with artists and labels. He will report to Amazon Music Director Ryan Redington in the company’s New York office. Block joins Amazon after 26 years at Sony Music Entertainment, most recently heading up its Legacy catalog label.
Amazon has been expanding both its Prime Music and Music Unlimited services. Research from eMarketer earlier this year projected that Amazon Music would be the fastest-growing audio streaming service from 2019 through 2023. Smart speaker owners in particular may be increasing the platform’s audience.
