Stationhead social DJ app adds on-demand option

Stationhead, a startup that launched with a focus on social radio for mobile, has updated its service. Initially, the platform only supported live broadcasting. Now it has been revised to let hosts record their shows and make them available on demand.

The platform has integrations with Spotify and Apple Music, which means Stationhead’s users are streaming the music from those platforms. On-demand shows will have the DJ’s own recording mixed with cued-up songs they chose from the streaming services.

“For the first time, you’re actually able to create binge-able audio content around these streams,” CEO Ryan Star told TechCrunch. He said that the move to include on-demand recordings is “tapping into something proven to be the most intimate form of communication.”
