Digital growth in 3rd-quarter radio ad revenue

The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) released its third-quarter revenue report. In it, digital advertising revenue continues its year-over-year growth story, while traditional spot revenue continues to show incremental decline from comparison quarters.

Compared to Q3 of 2013, third-quarter digital revenue rose 11%, while spot revenue declined by 3%. Total revenue for Q3 remained essentially flat from the previous quarter of this year, at $4.5-billion.

Comparing this year’s quarterly summaries shows the steady growth of digital and incremental decline of spot revenue, notwithstanding that digital remains a small percentage of the total.

RAB President and CEO Erica Farber highlighted the growth in digital: “The increasing strength of Radio’s digital platforms becomes more evident every quarter as advertisers recognize the unparalleled benefits of reaching Radio’s dedicated audiences on every device and platform they are using.”
