BBC names Bob Shennan as director of radio

bob-shennan-canvasBob Shennan has been promoted to the new BBC Director of Radio. His appointment follows the departure of Helen Boaden, who recently stepped down as the broadcaster’s director of radio. Shennan will assume the new role starting Nov. 8.

Shennan joined the BBC in 1987 and rose through the ranks until a brief departure in 2008. He returned later that year as the controller of Radio 2 and 6 Music.

The BBC is in the midst of some notable changes in personnel. Helen Boaden announced last month that she will step down from her post as head of radio. James Purnell was named as the new director of radio and education.
