iHeartRadio is the first streaming music service to plant its flag in the Yo App Index. Yo is a simple social messaging service that launched in April, and has about two-million users.
The Yo App Index contains content brands such as Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Funny Or Die, USA Today. Users receive notifications from those brands in much the same way as Android and iOS push notifications from installed apps. iHeartRadio has made good use of those platform notifications, as we noted in March. Push notifications are a definite distribution strategy for iHeart (we have noticed an increase lately), so it makes sense that the service jumped onto Yo as a hot new app.
iHeartRadio’s digital business development has ramped up in 2014. Last month came the announcement that iHeart was available on Android Wear smartwatches.
