Vevo has hired Jon Gisby its new Head of Europe. He joins the company after working on the BBC’s digital strategy and running content and services at UK ISP Freeserve. In this new role, he will be responsible for delivering Vevo’s plans for content, technology, and monetization in that market.
Jon Gisby has been a forward-looking executive during a career with many parts. “I build digital businesses that matter,” he says. Gisby has held board and mentorship positions with several organizations including the British Screen Advisory Council. He was Executive Vice President of Magine, a “brilliantly disruptive” internet TV service. He was Director of Future Media and Technology at Channel 4, a publicly owned, commercially funded public service broadcaster. In the late-1990s Gisby was Senior Adviser, Corporate Strategy at the BBC, where he managed investment in digital services and platforms.
“Our European teams and partners are at the heart of Vevo’s global strategy; delivering the best content to millions of fans and working with some of the most exciting artists in the world,” Gisby said. “Driving these plans forward is a challenge I relish, and I’m excited to be joining the team.”
