Times Radio launches in London, 24-hour live content, catch-up podcasts

Times Radio, a new 24-hour news station created by Rupert Murdoch’s Wireless Group in collaboration with The Times news organization. American listeners (and others) can tune in online at Times Radio.

We see a 24-hour schedule in this all-out BBC competitor, and archived shows (“catch-up”) for time-shifted listening. The website also promotes a slate of traditional, stand-alone podcasts — six of them.

The station is available for smart speaker listening, but UK news coverage of the launch gleefully describes a mishap with that. First-day users who asked their speaker for Rimes Radio were given Times Radio Malawi, a “skill” confusion many people have encountered from time to time. Interestingly, listeners got a dose of Malawi news at an interesting moment, as the African nation elected a new president, Lazarus Chakwera, on Sunday.
