Three Uncanny Four teams with Adam McKay for new podcast production venture

Three Uncanny Four Productions, a podcasting joint venture from Sony Music Entertainment, Adam Davidson, and Laura Mayer, is now entering a partnership of its own. The company has teamed with another notable figure in podcasting, Adam McKay, and is launching an excluive joint venture with McKay’s production company Hyperobject Industries for the creation of original shows. The businesses entered a multi-year agreement for developing, producing, and distributing both scripted and unscripted podcasts. The initial slate of their work is scheduled to debut in 2020.

The as-yet-unnamed JV will be lead by the trio of McKay, Davidson, and Mayer. The group had already collaborated on an investigative podcast under the Three Uncanny Four banner about Jeffrey Epstein. Harry Nelson, previously of Earwolf Media and Midroll Media, will join them as a podcast producer.

“Adam Davidson is a brilliant mind and a true friend,” McKay said. “When he partnered with Laura Mayer, one of the brightest talents in the podcast world and Sony Music, I seethed with jealousy. But now with this partnership, the last laugh shall be mine.”

“Adam McKay is one of the most passionate and smart podcast listeners we know,” Mayer and Davidson. “He listens to everything. And he is a fountain of brilliant ideas for new shows. There are few people who are at the top of comedy and entertainment and also at the peak of thoughtful, substantive public policy storytelling. The entire point of Three Uncanny Four is to work with the best people and create the conditions for them to do their best work. McKay is the best and we can’t wait to get started.”
