Taylor Swift’s Reputation album hits streaming service three weeks after release

Taylor Swift’s latest album has landed on all streaming services. The pop singer kept Reputation off streaming services for three weeks after its November 10 release date. At launch, the album was only available by digital download or as a physical copy.

Swift is part of a cadre of performers who have exercised more control over where and how their music is distributed. Her choice to remove her entire library from streaming services with free listening, most notably Spotify, in 2014 was a galvanizing moment for that wave of more artist-centric, individual release strategies. Although streaming has since continued to contribute a growing share of music industry revenue in most markets, many artists have remained skeptical of the platform and opt to delay release to all or just to free streaming listeners.
