Spotify is making inroads as a listening platform for podcasts, but the company is still looking to reach an ever-wider audience. The service now shows a button on its homepage that encourages listeners to select topics of interest to drive podcast recommendations. The button will appear for free users who have never listened to a podcast on Spotify, and is localized to audiences in U.S., Denmark, Great Britain, Brazil, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Mexico, Ireland, and New Zealand.
This feature should help broaden the reach of Spotify’s new customized suggested listening podcast playlist. Your Daily Podcasts, which launched in November, takes its popular Discover Weekly concept and applies it to audio content other than music. These efforts are all focused on getting more of Spotify’s show roster to translate into more direct financial gains for the company.
