Spotify is bolstering its efforts in podcasting with a new hire focused on original shows. Liz Gately has joined the audio streaming service as head of creative development, a role that will see her leading the company’s original content development teams in New York and Los Angeles. She was most recently at Lifetime television network as head of programming, and worked on notable projects such as Unreal, You, and Surviving R. Kelly. Gately also worked at MTV as head of development.
“I am excited to be back in the music/culture world to tell loud stories with my incredible team and to help invent new executions as I always have, but, most importantly, to join at such a transformative time at Spotify on the heels of the Gimlet and Anchor acquisitions,” Gately said of her new position.
