Spotify made two announcements this week, one for listeners and one for artists.
The streaming service introduced two additions to its suite of personalized playlists. On Repeat is an automatically-updated collection of the tracks an individual has played most over the past 30 days. Repeat Rewind will highlight past favorites, with tracks that a listener had on heavy rotation more than a month ago. It will be updated every five days. The split in timing means that there will never be crossover on the two lists.
The back-end update is an overhaul of the Spotify for Artists hub on mobile. The app has been redesigned on both iOS and Android and is available now. The updates include a new look for the home screen to include articles and tips for how to make the most of the Spotify tools. It also adds new features including real-time listening stats for the first week of a new release, and clearer presentation of the stats from all songs and playlists.
