These items are special audio clips that will play based on a listener’s preferences. The Sound Bytes could be hosts of Slacker shows talking more in depth about their area of expertise or updates from ABC News or ESPN. The goal is to offer the voice and personality of the broadcast radio experience.

“There’s a lot of opportunity for innovation around lean-back listening, and our mission has always been to create the best possible audio experience by combining music with news and storytelling,” said Kevin Stapleford, Slacker Radio’s vice president of programming. “Part of this includes building stations that incorporate non-music content and that’s the crux of what we’re announcing today with Sound Bytes.”
