SiriusXM announced an expansion of its Pre-Owned Program, via a partnership with Nowcom’s DealerCenter management software. DealerCenter is utilized by 4,500 car dealers in the U.S., many of which (but not necessarily all) carry pre-owned cars on the lot.
This development follows a March announcement which integrated Sirius’ Pre-Owned Program with AutoManager, another software solutions provider to car dealers. AutoManager’s platform, called WebManager, is used by 4,600 dealers.
Distributing the Sirius program in these dealer platforms streamlines the adoption of the Pre-Owned Program on car lots. Naturally, the program can take effect only in pre-owned cars equipped with Sirius receivers.
According to a recent earnings report, SiriusXM converts about 45% of trial listeners to paid subscribers. The satellite service is entrenched in cars; most new models have factory-installed satellite.
SiriusXM stock (SIRI) is trading up about 2.5% today on the news, as of this writing.
