Clearing the Myst

Podcast analytics and audience insights platform CoHost released a whitepaper designed to demystify podcast advertising for brands and marketers. Called A Brand’s Guide to Podcast Analytics, it provides a comprehensive overview of the importance of podcast data. It explores key metrics, and shines plenty of light on tools and companies in this specialized ecosystem … while, of course, promoting CoHost’s own platform. Learnings

Arielle Nissenblatt (Head of Community & Content, SquadCast.fm, and prominent podcast advocate) ran a podcast internship for four high school seniors. She reports on the key learnings from those students. One of the takeaways: “It’s not about competing to be the best, it’s about growing together as an industry.” READ

 

 

Cutback Clouds

LAist Studios, Southern California Public Radio’s podcast production unit, is facing cutbacks. CEO Herb Scannell has announced a shuffling of how the public media operation will spend its money, and a 12% layoff sweep. During this cutback at least two shows will continue: LA Report and How to LA. The cause? A drop-off in ad revenue, in what Scannell calls a “cloud of recession.” READ
