RAIN Notes: Thursday, March 10

Jottings of note:

Programmatic Need

True Native Media founder and recent guest on RAIN’s Podcast Business Lunch Heather Osgood uses the latest episode of her bi-monthly Podcast Advertising Playbook to evangelize programmatic advertising in podcasting. “I can go on and on all day about how important and influential host-read endorsement ads are, but the reality is we need programmatic ads in podcasting for various reasons,” she says. She puts forward thoughts on targeting, tech development, new advertisers, ease of purchase, and automation. LISTEN

Q&A

International audio consultant and RAIN Summit speaker Francis Currie is inviting podcasters and radio presenters to complete a survey about their show, their performance, and the quality of mentoring they receive. The research will go into a presentation at Radiodays Europe in May. We cruised through the survey to get a feel for it — it seems mainly directed at radio talent, but podcasters are welcome. New Drops

Can the first episode of a new podcast have a guest host? Co-host, anyway, as Anderson Cooper plays that role in the debut drop of Bearing Witness, where he talks with Clarissa Ward about Ukraine — both on the ground in that war-stricken country. Listen HERE. Also, CNN introduces Very Scary People: The Amityville Murders, described as “a twisted and enigmatic story.” Trailer HERE.
