Podcast dominance unchanged as Triton Digital releases April U.S. Podcast Report

Static? Congealed? Immovable? Pick your descriptor; the top podcasts and podcast networks remain unchanged as represented by Triton Digital’s U.S. Podcast Report which measures the company’s clients for the four weeks of March 29 through May 2. (See all of Triton’s reports HERE.)

We are not too surprised that the Top 15 Networks are the same as in the previous report (measured by average weekly downloads). And maybe we shouldn’t be startled that the top 10 podcasts are the same, month-over-month. (Only two new shows in the top 20.) In both lists, there are a few minor shifts in position among the repeating networks and shows.

But when it comes to discovery — that charged word which calls out a few different issues in podcasting’s giant catalog — the unvarying repetition of this list (and others) isn’t great news. Success breeds success in any media category, so we can’t be surprised, and maybe it’s a sign of maturity when the dust settles around industry winners.

Anyway, here are the network winners, below. Note that Triton’s new parent company, iHeartMedia, is not represented … iHeart is not (yet?) measured by Triton.
