Pod Drop: Bullet-point news; intellectual humility; teen genius

New podcasts of note:

CNN 5 Things / (CNN) / Daily News / Daily / Website / Apple

CNN 5 Things is a reboot and reformatting of the previously titled CNN Daily News Brief. Perhaps worth noting that USA Today also has a 5 Things daily show. We’re surprised CNN is inviting this confusion, but the new show is differentiated and laser sharp: Two minutes flat, 5-second pre-roll, single-voice narration on a minimalist music bed. You almost have to add it to your morning routine.

Unexplainable / (Vox) / Life Sciences / 2-episode drop / Website / Apple

“We hope the show can foster intellectual humility,” Vox told us. Unexplainable is a science show about ongoing scientific mysteries, from dark matter to the human sense of smell. That’s what the first two episodes are about, anyway. It’ll drop weekly on Wednesdays, featuring host Noam Hasselfeld. The show is richly soundtracked; a sonically luxurious learning experience. Sponsored by Yext and Cyberreason with 85 second of pre-rolls and 2:15 of mid-rolls.

The Genius Generation / (TRAX from PRX) / Education for Kids / Weekly starting March 18 / Website Apple

Did you know that the trampoline was invented by a 16-year-old? Neither did we. This podcast is a deep-dive into one incredible invention, entrepreneurial pursuit, or discovery per episode and the young person behind it. Starts March 18; an energetic trailer is up now. Inspirational  for teens; interesting for everyone.
