Stability rules podcast ad rates in 2024 (so far): Libsyn Ads

The average cost per thousand (CPM) for podcast advertising in March was nearly identical to February, dipping only five cents, or two-tenths of one percent. In March, the average cost for 1,000 ad impressions (CPM) was $21.95, compared to $22.00 the previous month.

This comes from the monthly reckoning at Libsyn Ads (formerly branded as Libsyn subsidiary AdvertiseCast), as seen below: (See the data HERE.)

That’s the average cost. For campaigns with an upper limit of 9,999 impressions (the smallest campaign sie represented by this monthly study he average price per impression dropped from $23.15 to $22.55 — a 2.5% drop.

When we take the March cost of all campsign-size groups (1,000 – 9,999 / 10,000 – 99,999 – 100,000+) we find an average ad cost of $21.97.

We also looked at the most expensive campaign-size type (1,000 – 9,999 impressions) across the lifetime of this chart. (See the red line in the chart below.) Crunching those numbers, we get an average cost of $24.26. That is 10.4% higher than the aggregate CPM across all campaign sizes.

The average pricing of a 60-second ad spot across all sizes of purchase was $21.99, up from $21.69 the previous month.
