Average cost of podcast ad dips in monthly Libsyn Ads reckoning

The average cost per thousand (CPM) for podcast advertising in July declined from the previous month. According to Libsyn’s monthly reckoning, the average CPM rate for a 60-second ad spot was $21.69 on July 1, compared to $21.95 a month earlier.

The average rate for a 30-second ad is $18 CPM (cost per thousand) according to the report; a 60-second spot is priced at $25 CPM.

The chart below illustrates a larger perspective on podcast ad pricing over time. Note the red line, which represents the smallest of three campaign scales (campaigns of 1,000 – 9,999 ads). At its high point (January 2022) the average cost was $28.43 — that is nearly 25% higher than this month’s marker.
