Kickstarter has helped catalyze 25,000 successful music projects. Molly Neuman, head of music for the crowdfunding platform, penned a blog post announcing the milestone. More than 22,000 creators have completed music projects in the eight years of Kickstarter’s existence. Those projects brought together 2 million supporters who have invested $175 million into the crowdfunded music industry.
Kickstarter success stories range from well-established performers such as De La Soul and Amanda Palmer to up-and-comers. In addition to musicians, music tech has become a niche field for Kickstarter. We’ve seen projects ranging from headphones to a pillow that’s also a speaker.
