The recorded music market for Italy edged up 0.4% in 2016 to post annual revenue of €149 million. Although the market as a whole moved little, the different segments showed big changes. Subscription streaming posted a 39.4% spike in revenue last year. At €35.2 million, subscriptions are the second-largest revenue source for Italy’s music industry. Ad-supported audio streaming saw a 30% rise in revenue.
On the other hand, the physical market revenue dropped 8%. Physical formats are still the largest music revenue source for Italy. Download revenue dipped 24%. The 2016 data came from Deloitte on behalf of industry body FIMI.
