International Podcast Day begins tonight

September 30 has been dubbed International Podcast Day, a chance for people in the industry to raise awareness and promote the audio format. The day will feature all types of programming, from livestreamed talks to bar meetups. Official talks include a discussion of developing a podcast from Facebook Live by Issa Perez of the Philippines, Larry Kwirirayi’s story of sparking podcast interest in Zimbabwe, and Cormac Moore from Ireland drawing connections between podcasting and radio.

Steve Lee, founder of the Modern Life Network, had the inspiration to host a day centered on podcasts back in 2013. In 2015 and 2016, the event gathered podcasters from almost 40 nations and has seen 95,000 tweets over those two years.
