Google Q1: Brief audio references, rising stock

In today’s release of Google’s Q1 earnings statement, we count 33 mentions of “AI” and one mention of “audio.” We’re not offended. (It is actually the earnings of parent entity Alphabet.)

Investors were evidently pleased with the quarter’s cinancials:

The singular audio mention  is about Flash Live … which is an AI construction designed for real-time voice and visual communication. The use case is users talking to AI with normal conversational speed and minimal lag. The experience is shareable. The architectural is different from some other AI experiences — Flash Live uses a streaming architecture rather than standard bots which process one message at a time.

Searching for “podcast” in the earnings call transcript calls up a whopping three mentions, one of them inconsequential. The others focus on facilitating the podcast advertising business:

“We’ve also made it easier to buy premium ad space in top-tier podcast shows by curating the most watched podcasts into popular genres.”

We used the transcript published HERE.
