CÜR raises money for new social/music service

Cur logo canvasCÜR Media announced the completion of a $1.75 million financing round in support of its upcoming music service. The proceeds will go toward working capital and general corporate purposes ahead of the launch for CÜR Music. The new platform is targeting the crossover between social and music, billing itself as “a social, mobile, and web streaming music application that is being designed to enable its users to go beyond the limitations of traditional music streaming services.” We haven’t heard any details about the business behind this concept, although the website does have a screenshot of the mobile interface.

Last we heard of CÜR was more than a year ago, when the company was still better known as Raditaz. In April 2014, the company had raised $9.6 million in early efforts to relaunch. So far this year, we’ve watched several upstart companies enter the realm of social music, only to shutter without success. At this stage, CÜR is still mum on how it will be different from other mobile or social music applications, but we do know it will have to be something special in order to last.
