Cadence13 launches new unit for original podcasts

Podcasting company Cadence13 has launched a new division focused on original content. C13Originals will create new story-centered shows at an in-house production studio. Chief Content Officer Chris Corcoran will head the new unit. Zak Levitt will be in charge of production and storytelling in his role as executive vice president of production; his background includes helming the Root of Evil podcast for Cadence13, currently at No. 1 on the iTunes charts, as well as work on a 30 for 30 documentary titled Bad Boys. Other members of the C13Originals team include Lloyd Lochridge, Perry Crowell, and Terence Malangone.

The first show from C13Originals will be an exploration of white-collar corruption titled Gangster Capitalism. Andrew Jenks will host the podcast, with a first season investigating the college admissions scandal that has rocked news headlines in recent weeks. The show is slated to launch in May 2019.

“Recruiting a talent like Zak Levitt to lead the C13Originals production team demonstrates our commitment to develop and produce an unparalleled slate of original content at the highest levels,” Corcoran said. “The launch of C13Originals marks an exciting new chapter for Cadence13.”

“I’m excited to take my documentary filmmaking experience into the podcast space to tell the most compelling stories in the most immersive and engaging way,” said Levitt. “I couldn’t be more proud to join Cadence13, and to lead the C13Originals team during this time of explosive growth in the industry.”
