Beats Music, set to launch this month, might make a Super Bowl touchdown

beats name 200wRumor Alert. The NY Post reports unnamed sources indicating that Beats Music, headed for launch this month, will splash into the market with Super Bowl ads and other media purchases.

Super Bowl TV host Fox sold out its game inventory a month ago, but does not disclose participating brands. Some advertisers like to advertise their advertisements in advance, but Beats is staying quiet for now on whether it will joig the expensive branding party.

Fox also keeps secret its rate card, but USA Today quotes Kantar Media’s estimate of $4-million per 30-second spot.

Beats Music has a steep hill to climb, entering a crowded U.S. streaming audio market. It has early-mover advantage in 2014, but Deezer and YouTube will soon breathe down its neck. Beats also has an affiliation advantage, having nailed down an alliance with AT&T last month.
