BBC Music launches in the United States

The BBC Music website has arrived stateside. The UK broadcaster’s online hub for original music reporting across its radio, digital, and television channels rolled out in the United States last week. In addition to the UK-produced content such as Radio 1 Live Lounge performances, the site will feature original content produced by the BBC in the U.S.

“BBC Music is all about connecting fans with music they love from their favourite artists, and music they’re going to love from their next favourite,” said Simon Frantz, U.S. features managing editor. “There’s a huge amount of great music being produced in the U.S. right now, and we’re excited to help connect those artists to our vast, music-hungry audience.”

The first-time BBC Music launch in the United States is being sponsored by Genesis, a luxury automotive brand. The site will offer advertisers the chance to put promotions alongside its content in markets beyond the UK as part of the BBC Global News.

  1. I was expecting this to be a re-launch of classical-music.com. Instead it’s just the same pop culture stuff one can get a hundred other places.
