7digital announced two international partnerships today. The first is with mobile music company Mariposa, which serves Latin America. The tie-up will result in both bundled and standalone services offering subscription listening and radio style services in that market. 7digital will contribute its streaming catalog and technological infrastructure to the new creations.
“Mariposa’s intelligence around both mobile music service strategy as well as the Latin American market they are targeting, make this an exciting deal for 7digital to be a part of,” 7digital CEO Simon Cole said. “Their strategic thinking around user engagement with music on mobile has the opportunity to really change a local market and bring an important and valuable new revenue stream into the music industry.”
The second partnership is with OpenLIVE, an upcoming Australian music download platform that specializes in live recordings. 7digital will power that store with high-resolution audio files. “7digital has been fundamental in helping us put this passion into a viable product, ready for launch and imminent expansion,” said Simon Tait, CTO at OpenLIVE. “They understand our vision and provide us with a flexible and reliable infrastructure that caters exactly to our needs.” OpenLIVE is projected to launch the consumer service in Australia in June 2015, with plans to expand to the U.S. and UK later in the year.
