Apple allegedly played a part in the shut-down of Omnifone earlier this year, hiring 16 of the B2B music company’s employees and snapping up some amount of its technology assets. TechCrunch reported that Apple made the purchase and talent acquisition back in August. Omnifone hit some struggles in the spring, and when news broke that the company’s assets had been bought up for $10 million, Apple was rumored as the likely buyer.
About 16 former Omnifone employees now name Apple as their employer on LinkedIn. Sources have also told TechCrunch that some Omnifone technology also changed hands, but there have been fewer details about that element of the deal.
