YouTube Music revises charts for monitoring most popular music on the platform

YouTube Music announced that several new and updated charts tracking the most popular videos on the platform will launch in 44 countries. The U.S., Japan, Germany, Brazil, and the UK are among the nations that will receive the new charts.

The new addition to YouTube Music’s chart roster follows Trending videos. The list is updated multiple times a day for a reflection of the latest shifts in popularity. The new Trending chart is “YouTube’s first dedicated external signal of the most viewed new music on the platform,” according to the press release.

The Top Songs, Top Artists, and Top Music Videos charts have also been updated for more details about most popular musical content. All three will be updated on Sundays at noon Pacific. They also include reflections of whether each entry has climbed, fallen, or stayed the same on the chart.

Top Songs monitors the number of views a song gets on the platform. All official versions of a track will be incorporated into the results, including official songs used in user-generated content and lyric videos. Top Artists lists the most popular performers based on total views of their entire discography. This chart will reflect official videos as well as official live performances, remixes, album tracks, and collaborations. Top Music Videos will only track the official music videos.
