A representative for the service said that it had 250,000 paid subscribers at the end of the year. Although that’s a small figure compared with the millions put up globally by the top platforms, in Russia, it’s enough to be the second largest streaming music service in the country. According to business daily Vedomosti, Apple Music is the top performer with 600,000 subscribers.

Yandex.Music is owned by Russian search engine Yandex. Its domestic competition includes Zvooq and social/entertainment hybrid vKontakte.
