The Echo Nest partners with Japan’s Hikari-TV music service

the echo nest canvasMusic intelligence company The Echo Nest continues its global expansion in a partnership with Hikari-TV, part of NTT Plala. (NTT is Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation.) Hikari-TV is an in-home provider of broadband services including on-demand video and music.

Hikari-TV is licensing the Echo Nest’s “Taste Profiles” service, which harvests social data in addition to user actions in the service, to deliver song recommendations. As usual with this type of software, the more a person uses the service, the more personalized the service becomes — and it happens effortlessly in the background.
