France generated recorded music revenue of €772 million ($867 million) in 2019, according to the latest report from trade body SNEP. The overall growth of 5.4% in revenue was driven by increases in streaming, including a 18.5% spike in premium subscription revenue.
Streaming represented 49% of the industry’s total revenue for the year and was the leading revenue source in 2019. Premium subscriptions accounted for 46% of the annual revenue total, and nearly 80% of the streaming total. SNEP said that 9.4 million people in France are now listening via paid subscription, including on a family plan.
