A new study of January data by comScore and Millennial Media reveals that among 15 Internet content categories, streaming radio is (by far) the most mobile.
A full 95% of time spent with streaming radio transpired in tablets (16%) and smartphones (79%). Each of those statistics leads the category field, overcoming potential objections that tablets are home-use devices more than mobile devices. Emphasizing the hyper-mobility of streaming radio, only 5% percent of January listening occurred via PC (non-mobile by anyone’s definition), the lowest number across the categories.
The report notes that mobile-only use of Internet content grew nine times faster than overall Internet use, year-over-year. Crossover use (percentage of users using both PCs and mobile devices) grew from 63% to 70% during that time.
