Jottings of note:

Tying the knot

Quest Global Research Group has acquired prominent research firm Coleman Insights. The combination intends to broaden each brand’s offerings and deliver enhanced services. Ontario-based Quest was founded in 2003, and operates in over 70 markets with 200 employees. Coleman Insights, located in Raleigh, NC, was founded in 1978 and serves media companies in over a dozen countries with leadership in radio podcasting, and streaming industries. Coleman will continue to operate under its brand, with its existing team. The two firms have partnered for over a decade.

Pricing Pain

Furious disgruntlement accompanies a price hike at video streaming production platform StreamYard, which reportedly raised the cost of one plan from $10 to $44, according to a creator venting on Reddit. Other subscribers say the change is “absurd” and “insane.” Changing plan tiers or usubscribing is proving difficult for some users — we learn this anecdotally and with the understanding that many subscription services make onboarding much easier than quitting. “It feels like a betrayal,” one member grieves. StreamYard says the change simplifies previous confusingplan options, and new features come with the new prices.

Climbing that hill

“It’s not if but when. We’d rather overpay later if it reduces risk.” That’s what one investor told DWNLOAD Media founder Chris Peterson as his company sought capital. Working with founding partner Red Seat Ventures, the effort did secure funding from Co_Made Sthlm, which focuses on storytelling enterprises. A partnership with strategic advisor RockWater Industries led to a global search for podcast companies seeking “grounded” investment. The entire project is in “reset” mode now, Peterson announces in an exceptionally transparent statement. See it and the ensuing social conversation HERE.
