Radio listening shift: Broadcast to digital

A radio audience shift has been underway, for 13 years, relentlessly telling a story of migration from broadcast to digital. The data is from Techsurvey 2026, the latest edition of the highly respected annual listener survey conducted by Jacobs Media.

In the accompanying chart (below) the growth of digital listening match the decline in broadcast listening, forming a clear directional arrow toward a potential 50/50 tie (currently 44% digital listening and 54% broadcast.
